Washington State has partnered with Truth Initiative to offer This is Quitting, a quit vaping text message program for young people ages 13-24. The first-of-its-kind program dedicated to helping young people be free from nicotine addiction has had over 500,000 young people enroll since its launch in 2019.
The program is confidential and free to all users, tailored on age, type of e-cigarette, and quit journey progress. To get started, a young person can text VAPEFREEWA to 88709.
Number of direct calls to the quitline: 8,351
Number of tobacco users receiving services: 1,317
Number of tobacco users registering for Web-based services: Not available
Number of tobacco users referred to the quitline: 208
Amount per smoker spent on services and medications: Not available
Amount per smoker spent on media and promotions: Not available
Promotional reach: Not available
Treatment reach: 2.63 %
NAQC standard quit rate: 35.70 %
Context for quitline metrics:

The number of tobacco users receiving services does not include the vast majority of Medicaid clients, many of whom make direct calls to the Quitline, but get triaged to their more robust managed care or fee-for-service telephone counseling benefit. This number also excludes privately insured callers who have a telephone counseling benefit.
Funder of quitline services: Washington State Department of Health
Operator of counseling services: RVO Health
Funding source(s): Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
